People I have selected these images to highlight what I think are the important aspects of portrait photography. People do make great photographic subjects and you don't have to be rich and famous to be photogenic - (camera friendly). Feeling comfortable while in front of a camera is a natural talent that some people seem to have. Simply smiling in front of the camera will not create a natural expression, the images above depict a natural feel while the eyes tell the story. Portrait photography coloured images have more detail, however some images are best produced in black and white.
Colour vs Black & White
Image of Captain John - Known as a shallow depth of field the background in this image is blurred having little colour therefore not competing with the subject. This allows the subject to be the real feature.
Image of Puggsely Buzzard - The red background in this images is the dominant feature, highlighting the performer, this image is best viewed in full colour.
Image of Natalie & Sue - The background information is important in this picture because it describes the location therefore necessary to the image.
Image of Niki & Richard A natural expression is easy for lovers and the background has little impact so I decided to make this image black and white.
Image of Rinny - The background in this image is not important, as it could never compete with this colourful sticky date champion. This image is best viewed in colour.
